The second installment of "John Carter, Warlord of Mars" picks up right where the previous issue's left off:
Carter is brought before the high command of the Martians. Via telepathy, he has a vague idea of what they're thinking, but communication between them is still tenuous. Case in point: when one of the Martians starts man-handling him, Carter does what comes naturally: hit someone!
A piece of masonry crumbles beneath his feet, sending Carter tumbling to the ground below. He manages to grab a windowsill, and hoists himself inside, where he meets yet another strange creature:

I really enjoy DC's take on John Carter: brief as though it is (only eight pages a shot), its sort-of classical style really works, IMO. It doesn't hurt that Gray Morrow is doing the art!
